Ce jeudi, la première étape du Province Cycling Tour (classé 2.12 IC1) s’est déroulée autour de Blegny, en province de Liège, sur un parcours vallonné long de 141,1 kilomètres. Elle a souri au Français Thomas Garel, représentant de l’équipe France Militaire, qui a remporté l’étape au sprint, signant ainsi un succès de prestige face à un peloton très international.
En franchissant la ligne en 3h08'36", Garel a su résister aux nombreuses offensives et aux pièges du parcours liégeois pour décrocher sa victoire. Il devance de justesse le jeune belge Warre Van den Meerssche (VDM-Trawobo Cycling Team), qui empoche par la même occasion le maillot de meilleur jeune, et Léopold Dallemagne (Trustup-CC Chevigny), troisième du jour.
