La première journée du Tour of Rhodes 2026 s’est jouée pour quelques secondes seulement. Sur le prologue de 2,1 kilomètres, disputé sur les routes de l’île grecque, l’Australien Cameron Rogers a signé la victoire inaugurale et endossé le premier maglia gialla de leader.
Le coureur de la INEOS Grenadiers Racing Academy a bouclé l’effort en 2’42’’, un chrono suffisant pour devancer l’Italien Matteo Scalco de deux secondes seulement. Le jeune coureur du XDS Astana Development Team décroche ainsi son premier podium de la saison 2026.
La troisième place revient au Danois Sylvester Vittinghus Stokbro (AIRTOX–Carl Ras), à trois secondes, tandis que Ben Wiggins, fils de l’ancien vainqueur du Tour de France Bradley Wiggins, prend la quatrième place à quatre secondes sous les couleurs de Hagens Berman Jayco.
Ses coéquipiers Adam Rafferty et Wil Holmes, champion d’Australie U23 du contre-la-montre, complètent un groupe de coureurs classés à seulement quatre secondes du vainqueur.
Une course déjà très serrée
Avec des écarts extrêmement réduits au classement général, la course reste totalement ouverte avant la première étape en ligne. Le peloton repartira de Maritsa pour un parcours exigeant composé d’un circuit vallonné de 18 kilomètres à parcourir neuf fois.
Ce tracé technique pourrait déjà provoquer des mouvements au classement général, obligeant les favoris à rester particulièrement attentifs pour ne pas perdre de précieuses secondes.
