La troisième étape du Tour de Catalogne 2026 a offert un final spectaculaire et dramatique. Dorian Godon (INEOS Grenadiers) s’est imposé au sprint à Vila-seca après une étape animée, marquée par une attaque des favoris et surtout par la chute de Remco Evenepoel dans le dernier kilomètre.
La course a longtemps été contrôlée avant que la situation ne s’emballe dans le final. Remco Evenepoel et Jonas Vingegaard ont attaqué ensemble dans les derniers kilomètres, provoquant une sélection importante et mettant sous pression les autres favoris du classement général. Mais à environ 300 mètres de l’arrivée, Evenepoel a chuté alors qu’il était à l’avant de la course, mettant fin à ses chances de victoire d’étape.
Après la chute du champion olympique, la victoire s’est jouée au sprint dans un groupe réduit. Dorian Godon s’est montré le plus rapide pour s’imposer devant Ethan Vernon et Noah Hobbs, signant ainsi une nouvelle victoire pour INEOS sur cette Volta a Catalunya.
Remco Evenepoel a finalement pu repartir et franchir la ligne. Grâce à la règle des 3 derniers kilomètres, il a conservé le même temps que les autres favoris du classement général, évitant ainsi de perdre du temps au général malgré sa chute.
Cette étape a confirmé que la bataille entre les favoris est déjà lancée sur ce Tour de Catalogne, avec des attaques lointaines, des chutes et des écarts qui pourraient compter pour la suite de la course.
